Election Duty Certificates will be issued to polling staff deputed for elections, to be held on 30 April. These certificates could be obtained from the office of Assistant Returning Officers. Stating this, District Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Sh. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that district administration has ensured each & every effort in view of elections & the issuance of election duty certificates is being done so that polling staff could also use their constitutional right to cast vote.Sidhu said that to conduct fair & transparent elections in the district, appropriate directions has been issued to the department chiefs & executive officers to ensure the voting exercise by polling staff.
He said that polling staff could cast their votes through various methods. He said that polling officer could cast his vote in concerned polling station by showing Election Duty Certificate, provided the polling officer is deputed in the same constituency. He said that in case the polling officer is deputed in different constituency then he could use Ballet Paper for casting the vote. He said, many a time, it was noticed that polling officers are not properly aware about the Election Duty Certificates & use of Ballet Papers, due to the fact they feel unable to cast their votes.District Electoral Officer said that direction in this regard have already been issued to the department heads & officers concerned to make aware the polling staff, about the use of their constitutional right during election duty. He said that every department chief has to ensure the timely submission of properly filled "Form-12-A" by the polling officers, so that further necessary action in this regard could be initiated.
