Rural Police Arrest One Drug Smuggler, Seize 3-KG Opium

Continuing its war against the drug peddlers in the wake of general elections, the rural police on Tuesday have arrested a Madhya Pradesh resident after recovering 3-kg opium from his possession near Bidhipur railway crossings.Addressing a press conference, SP Investigation Rajveer Singh said that Maqsudan SHO Mr Jarnail Singh and Sub-Inspector Mr Surjit Singh was conducting a patrolling near Bidhipur railway crossing. He said that a person boarded off from the private bus coming from Jalandhar side and spotting the police checking, he changed the direction and started moving  towards village Bidhipur. He said that suspecting on his activity, the cops apprehended him who revealed his identity as Mann Singh of Thakur Mohalla, Amba, Barod, in Madhya Pradesh.SP said that the police party informed DSP Kartarpur Mr Ranjit Singh Bandesha, upon which he also reached at the spot and in his presence, he was frisked and cops recovered 1.5 kg opium from a plastic bag tied on his waist with the help of a piece of cloth and 1.5 kg opium hidden in artificial limb. SP said that a case under section of 19 NDPS Act has been registered against him in Maqsudan Police Station. A thorough probe into the matter is being conducted to know his link-ups.
