A seminar on fuel saving techniques was organised for 30 Bus Drivers of CGC Landran. Experts from Regional Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (RCED) shared video presentations with the drivers and guided them on avoiding high speed, anticipating traffic, accelerating gently and other fuel efficient techniques. Adulterated fuel, which is one of the major causes for green house effect was also discussed and 4 Mechanical engineering students of CGC Landran: Naman Goyal, Mohd. Jafar, Mohit Kumar and Mrityunjaya Vashistha introduced their innovative idea ‘fuel adulteration detection system’ with the drivers in order to seek their feedback. The students have been recently granted financial aid of Rs. 1 Lakh for their innovative idea by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and they have been provided incubation centre by IEDC (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre) within the campus premises itself. The students are currently working on its prototype by designing a sensor-based mechanical hardware which would be an alternative to the manual checking of Petrol/diesel quality.“Our device would be able to automatically detect the density and temperature of the fuel. A real-time updated message would be received by the consumer directly on their mobile phones. This would be based on Internet of Things and Bluetooth communication” explained Naman, brain behind the innovation.
