Information Deptt organises debate, painting competition in Ramban

Department of Information, Ramban today organized a debate and painting competition on the topic ‘Sustainable Reduction in Disaster Risk’ at Assraria Faridia Middle School, Batote here.Principal of the host school Mohammad Tariq Parray was the chief guest on the occasion, while Teacher Tosef Ahmed presided over the function.As many as 25 students participated in the competition while Mariam Jahan was adjudged as best in painting while Muskan Akhter secure 1st position and Hassan Raza clinched 2nd  position in the debate competition.Around 8 students from host school drawn from different classes participated in the Debate competition and expressed their views on the topic.Detailed lectures on the different measures to be adopted for safeguarding life and property in the event of a manmade or natural disaster were delivered by the speakers. Moreover, live demonstrations of different rescue operations and use of equipment in the disaster management were also organized.Appreciating the role of Information Department, the chief guest,   said that use of knowledge, innovation and education to build a culture of safety and resilience through curricular and co-curricular activities in schools is a must.He also impressed upon the students to take part in extra circular activities for their overall development apart from their study.Besides, a colourful cultural programme was also presented by artists and students. Later, certificates and trophies were distributed among the best performers.
