Travel to Barogh:

After a couple of months of hard work in the metro of Chandigarh, my husband and I found ourselves tired and fatigued by the hustle and bustle of the city. I believe that a great vacation is not just a pastime, but a necessity especially if you are in the high-stress environment that is a characteristic of cities. As a result, we found ourselves dreaming about vacations and finally made the plan to go for a weekend trip to the mountains.Looking at the places nearby, Barogh seemed to be the most attractive option for a quick getaway. We are both mystery buffs, and Barogh is the perfect place because it has a rich colonial history and a general air of spookiness to it. We decided against driving to Barogh since we needed to chill and have a relaxing time – and the Savaari rental cars were the safest and best option available to us. It is so easy to rent a safe and reliable car in Chandigarh , with the help of Savaari! Our driver came right on time, and we started our drive around 6 AM on a Saturday so that we could experience the sunrise amidst the mountains.

Overview and daily activities:

Barogh is pretty much the ideal tourist destination to visit, from Chandigarh – it is close by, but you feel as if the din of the city is a thousand miles away from you once you reach the town. The city is steeped in colonial history, and the scenic beauty that is characteristic of Himachal Pradesh – ancient myth forms a huge part of the culture of the town. Barogh is similar to Shimla in many ways but with way fewer tourists since it is not as well known. For people who love being out in nature and having a small trek through the lush forests, Barogh is the perfect place. We reached Barogh around 9 in the morning, having stopped multiple times on the way to enjoy the scenery and have tea. We had booked accommodation at the Barogh Camping Grounds, for the full experience of staying as close to nature as possible – so we went straight to our camp to freshen up before setting out to explore the city. The camping grounds are equipped with modern amenities like water and electricity, but you can leisurely sip a warm beverage and catch some stunning views right from your area.

We set out to Karol Tibba, which is around 16 km from the town itself. It is a famous ridge, with a temple on top of the peak. There is also a popular cave nearby, which tourists explore, called the Pandav cave. The name stems from the legend that the Pandavas resided in the caves for a few days during the period of their exile, and it is the longest cave in the state too. Exploring the trail and the cave on foot takes around 3 hours, and the rocks and the pine trees lining the route makes for an amazing experience. We finally reached the temple atop the ridge, and caught a stunning view of the nearby Solan village; of course, we clicked some amazing photos from there. After a tiring day on foot, we retired to the camp and spent the evening looking at the beautiful sunset and revelling in the sounds of nature. The next morning, we set out to Dagshai, which is among the oldest cantonment towns in the nation. The place is located a few kilometres away from the town, and it also has an old Jail which gives you the spooks. There is also a quaint old church nearby, which was a fun experience too. After that, we visited the grave of Barogh, where the engineer after whom the town is named is buried. The grave is in the midst of the forest, and the walk can be a refreshing experience, There is an interesting legend behind how the engineer died, too. We spent the afternoon shopping for some clothes in the town and started our journey back to the city at around 7 in the evening. We reached back home, rejuvenated and fresh, at around 9 PM.
