The State Government is striving hard to redress the complaints and grievances of the people of the state nearer to their homes. In order to achieve this objective, the State Government has started Jan Manch on 3rd June 2018. The main aim of this program was to establish a direct dialogue with the public and provide on the spot redressal to their grievances. This program was being organized on the first Sunday of each month in one of the Assembly constituency of every district. This program is presided over by ministers of state government. During this program, all the concerned officers of the district are present to provide solutions for public grievances on the spot. The state government has given special importance to Jan Manch as the Chief Minister himself closely monitors the activities of this program.Various public interest activities were being conducted under Jan Manch, which includes issuing the certificates, progress of LPG distribution, water supply and various other government schemes etc. The program is being implemented at three levels. First level is pre-publicity of Jan Manch, under this preparations were done for proper publicity, registration of grievances, cleanliness campaign, health camps, inspection of schemes etc. People can apply online for redressal of their grievances and complaints and with coordination of Jan Manch and e-Samadhan an IT portal has been developed for this purpose. Through this, these grievances and complaints of public are being disposed off online. As many as 126 Jan Manch programs were held in 65 Vidhan Sabha areas till date in the state in which more than 30 thousand complaints were received, out of which more than 27,000 grievances and complaints have been redressed on the spot.

The main objective of the Jan Manch was to provide information about the developmental schemes and projects initiated by the government for the welfare of the people, and to develop a system in which people do not have to visit the government offices and provide solution to their problems nearer to their homes. It has been seen that the common people have to face many problems in availing facilities of the welfare schemes and getting financial assistance, for which they have to visit various offices due to which both the time and money of the general public get wasted. Keeping this objective in mind, the Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur, has envisaged implementing this ambitious program so that the government can establish a direct dialogue with the people.Keeping in view the popularity and massive participation of general people, the State Government had decided to organize Jan Manch programs twice in every month in big districts like Kangra, Mandi and Shimla and Chief Minister himself will preside over the Jan Manch programs being organized at the district level. In the Jan Manch programs, the general public of state has shown special interest, which also reveals people's expectations and aspirations from the government. Seeing the success of the Jan Manch, it can be said that if the public has an active role in government schemes, then no one can stop the change. The powerful platform of Jan Manch through which people of the state establishes direct contact with the government should be utilized properly. It can be said that in future, this Jan Manch program will be the convener of social change and will play an important role in strengthening democracy. While watching the grand success of Jan Manch other states are also contemplating to adopt it and at national level the Union leadership has also appreciated this initiative of the state government.
