Two people were killed while ten others were injured after a passenger bus turned turtle at Langate in Handwara area of  Kupwara district on Wednesday.A police officer told GNS that about 1:20 pm, a Swaraj Mazda (bearing registration no JKO9A-1220) turned turtle on reaching Main Chowk Langate near JK Bank.12 passengers injured in the mishap, the officer said,  were immediately taken to the sub-district hospital Langate for treatment, where two succumbed to their injuries. The official identified them as Mohammad Sultan Malik son of Khazir Mohd resident of Panditpora and Sajad Ahmad Lone son of Bashir Ahmed resident of Udipora.It seemed the mishap had occurred due to rash and negligent driving, the officer said, adding that a hunt has been launched to nab the bus driver.He said that a case FIR number 33/2019 under section 279,337, 304A RPC has been registered against the driver at police station Handwara and further investigations been taken up.Meanwhile, some of the injured were referred to district hospital Handwara for specialized treatment. However, due to the absence of ambulance drivers, the locals and relatives of the injured staged a  protest demonstration. (GNS)
