The Punjab Government is focusing on supplying safe potable drinking water to the citizen of the state. The work on various landmark water supply projects is underway. The work on prominent projects to supply drinking water to 520 villages of Sri Amritsar Sahib, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib districts has already been initiated. This project would be completed with the cost of Rs. 629 crore.It was disclosed by Mrs. Razia Sultana, Water Supply and Sanitation Minister, Punjab while addressing the gathering at village Saskaur in block Nurpur Bedi after dedicated a water supply project of Rs. 26.27 crore to the public. She said that with the completion of this prestigious water supply project 48 villages between Kiratpur Sahib and Saskaur would get supply of potable drinking water. She said that water is one such precious natural resource which is very crucial for the human existence exhorted the public for the judicious use of water.
She said that Nurpur Bedi region is full of natural resources and the public must apply mind to tap these God given bounties. She assured the citizen that Punjab Government would provide full assistance and funds for this region to start developmental works. District Congress President Mr. Brinder Singh Dhillon also addressed the gathering and said that land for this project has been given by village saskaur so the unemployed youth of this village would be provided employment on priority basis. Prominent amongst those who were present at the occasion included Mr. Paramjit Singh, Additional Secretary, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Dr. Sumit Jarangal, Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Swapan Sharma, SSP, Ms. Kanu Garg, SDM, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Mr. Rajinder Singh, Chief Engineer, Water Supply Department, Mr. R.P Gupta, Superintending Engineer and Mr. Michael, Executive Engineer of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department.
