Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today called upon the youth to make optimum use of mobile app and portal launched by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for enrolling themselves as voters before the upcoming polls.Interacting with the youth during inspection of special booth level camps organize here to facilitate the voters for verifications of their names, new registrations, changes in the voter details and corrections in the Voter ID Cards for the upcoming General Elections 2019, the Deputy Commissioner said that all these efforts were being made to ensure that the modern tech savvy youth could register themselves as voters and participate in the democratic system. He said that besides these camps the youth could register them as voters through a single click on their computer or mobile, way back from their home. Mr. Sharma said that to facilitate the youth the Election Commission of India has launched National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App.Divulging more details, the Deputy Commissioner said that new eligible voters could also register themselves online through National Voter Services Portal (NVSP). He said that the youth have to click the link www.nvsp.in for getting them registered as new voters.  

Likewise Mr. Sharma said that the youth could also download Voter Helpline App from Google Play store in their android phone for enrolling them as voters.The Deputy Commissioner said that the app was very useful as any person could find his vote in a particular area by filing common details like epic number, name, father’s name and date of birth. He said that through the app the youth could also update themselves about the working of the democratic system. Mr. Sharma said that the youth could also get valuable information regarding previous assembly and genera polls through this app.The Deputy Commissioner said that the youth could download forms from the app and get them enrolled as voters by uploading relevant documents in JPG format with size less than 100 KB. He said that besides NVSP and Voter Helpline App, the youth could avail the benefit of ERO NET, national toll free number 1950, website of the Election Commission and others to become voters. Mr. Sharma said that besides this they could also enroll them as voters by visiting the office of Election Registration Officers (ERO) and Assistant Election Registration Officers (AEROs) of the respected constituencies. On the occasion Tehsildar Elections Mr. Manjit Singh, Election Kanungo Mr. Rakesh Kumar and others were also present.
