India and Pakistan armies on Friday exchanged gunfire along Line of Control in Nowshera sector of district Rajouri. Official sources told KNO that about 1615 hours, Pakistan initiated Unprovoked Cease Fire Violation by shelling with mortars and firing of small arms," he said. He said that Indian Army retaliated ‘strongly & effectively'. Meanwhile, tension seem mounting further on Line of Control as there are reports that 105 mm artillery shells have been fired amid cross border firing in Nowshera Kalal and Balakote in Mendhar. Sources told KNO that intense shelling in Nowshera Kalal on Thursday evening and night long heavy shelling in Balakote of Poonch’s Mendhar has spread panic in the entire border belt. In both these areas, people fully confined themselves inside homes amid shelling.  In Balakote, sources told KNO, shelling from across continued entire night and it was like a war like situation with hundreds of shells landed in civilian areas. Sources said that an unexploded shell recovered from a rooftop in Kalal village of Nowshera has turned out to be a 105 mm shell which is an artillery shell and is fired from artillery gun. "Mortar shells never reach so inner but these are artillery shells which fell very much inside LoC," people from Balakote Mendhar said. They said that use of artillery too grave issue as use to artillery on civil areas during ceasefire violation can led to major losses and use of such highly explosive shells need to checked.
