The State Government would sympathetically consider the demand of giving recognition of Special Olympics Bharat Himachal Pradesh as Sports Association and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in the State Sports Policy.This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the children of Special Olympics, who called on him at his official residence 'Oak Over' here today. These special students of the State are going to participate in 15th World Level Summer Sports Championship being held at Abu Dhabi from 14 to 21March, this year.The Chief Minister said that the Special Olympics Himachal Pradesh has been a pioneer in organising winter sports for Special Olympics Bharat at Manali and Narkanda. The state government would provide all possible help to these students to exhibit their talents at national and international levels. He also extended his best wishes to the students. Jai Ram Thakur presented cheques of Rs. 25,000 each to all seven students on behalf of the State Welfare Department. These special students are Nisha, Vinod, Abhishek, Chirag, Shubham, Puja and Raghunath. In addition, Jatin Sood is participating as Unified Partner in this event.Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, General Secretary, Child Welfare Council Payal Vaidya and Area Director, SOBHP Parikshat Mehdudia were present on the occasion.
