Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that the district administration was duty-bound to conduct ensuing Lok Sabha polls in a free, fair and transparent manner.Presiding over a training program for the electoral officers here at the district administrative complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that holding elections in a peaceful and transparent manner was the top most priority of the administration and no stone would be left unturned for accomplishing this gigantic task. He asked all the officers to ensure that the task was completed in a flawless manner. Mr Sharma that elections was one of the biggest exercise in the country when every section of society was observing the administration for efficient conduct of this Herculean task.The Deputy Commissioner said that any sort of callousness in this exercise was completely unwarranted and intolerable. He said that there was a huge responsibility on the shoulders of every officer to ensure that this exercise was completed in a perfect manner so that the faith of Public was reposed on the poll process. Mr Sharma said that the corner stone of every democratic process was to ensure that elections were organised in free and fair manner.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the guidelines issued by Election Commission of India must be implemented zealously and the Model Code of Conduct must be enforced strictly. He said that this election would be held with VVPAT machines on all booths for which adequate arrangements must be made by all the officers. Mr Sharma expressed hope that every officer would perform their duty with utmost dedication and sincerity.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr Kulwant Singh and Mr Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Paramvir Singh, Mr Amit Kumar Panchal, Mr Sanjiv Sharma, Mr Rajesh Sharma and Ms Charumita, Secretary RTA Ms Nayan Jassal, Deputy Director Local Government Mr Baljinder Singh, Assistant Commissioners Mr Himanshu Jain and Mr Navraj Singh Brar, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ms Aashika Jain, District Development and Panchayat Officer Mr Ajay Kumar, District Information Officer Mr AS Kalsi, Revenue Officers Mr Aaditya Gupta, Mr Tapan Bhanot, Mr Inder Dev Singh Minhas and others.
