Punjab Inks Mou For Setting Up International Skill Development Centre

Punjab today inked first of its kind Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) to provide internationally recognized training in construction sector. The MoU was  signed between Maharaja Ranjit Singh Technical Education University, Bathinda (MRSPTU) and ACES Skill Center UK (ASC) in the presence of  Charanjit Singh Channi Technical Education & Employment Generation Minister, Punjab and Mr. Andrew Ayre British Deputy High Commissioner, Chandigarh.Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi said that this initiative has been taken to make Punjabi youth skilled in the  construction sector as per international standards so as to provide them overseas employment. The initial training would cover concrete specialists, carpenters and brick layers and would last 3-6 months with opportunity to work in UK after successful completion of skill training. MRSPTU would set up International Skill Development Centre at its main campus in Bathinda in first phase where ACES would provide training with the aid of state of the art Technology to its Master Trainers so as to enable them to provide internationally valid training and certifications.Mr. Andrew Ayre, British Deputy High Commissioner said, ‘I am delighted that this agreement has been signed. It represents the first concrete outcome of the 2017 MoU between our two governments and is an important step in improving skills of Punjabi youth. I look forward to building this partnership further’. Briefing about the ACES Skill Centre Skill Centre, CEO Mr. Danny Sangha said that ASC provides training programmes on construction, health & safety, leadership, analytical and communication skills, where candidates can gain hands-on experience with the tools and equipment used in UK. Others prominent people present on the occasion included Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura Adviser Skill Development Mission, Mr. Parveen Thind Director Technical Education, Dr. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda.
