19 Member Indian Delegation Returns After Attending World Peace Conference At Lahore

The 19-member Indian delegation returned back to India today after attending World Peace Conference in Lahore (Pakistan). This conference was organised at Hotel Pak Heritage, Lahore, from February 1-3, 2019.Upon his return from Lahore, Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill, former President, Punjabi Sahit Akademi, informed that this conference was organised by Mr Fakhar Zaman, Chairman, World Punjabi Congress, Lahore. He said that leader of the Indian delegation was Dr Deepak Manmohan Singh.Prof Gill informed that during the three-day long World Peace Conference, the Indian delegation interacted with leading writers, poets, intellectuals, artists etc from Pakistan as well as across the globe. He said that although their Visa was for only Lahore city, but with the efforts of former Member National Assembly Pakistan Mr Rai Azil Ullah Khan, who took up the issue with Pakistan Prime Minister Mr Imran Khan, that the delegation members got permission to visit Nankana Sahib on February 4.He said that the Indian delegation comprised of Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims, who visited the birth place of first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Nankana Sahib on February 4. He informed that the Indian delegation received full protocol during their visit to Nankana Sahib as they were welcomed personally by the Deputy Commissioner Nankana Sahib Mr Raja Manzoor Ahmed as well as other senior District Administration officials. He informed that ADC Nankana Sahib Mr Hafiz Najeeb and Nankana Sahib Head Granthi Bhai Daya Singh briefed the delegation about the great history of Nankana Sahib.

Prof Gill also thanked Mr Fakhar Zaman and organiser of World Peace Conference Mr Aijaz Chaudhary for their wholehearted support during their trip.He informed that during interaction, Deputy Commissioner Nankana Sahib Mr Raja Manzoor Ahmed told the delegation members that several development projects have been started in Nankana Sahib district in view of 550th year celebrations. The Deputy Commissioner informed that for setting up of Guru Nanak Dev University, around 51 acres land has been earmarked for the time being and efforts are being made to acquire more land. Similarly, a special underground road is being constructed that would connect Nankana Sahib Railway Station with Gurudwara Janam Asthan, so that the pilgrims do not face any problem. He said that the Pakistan government would ensure that before the arrival of pilgrims in November, several other facilities would also be provided, besides additional infrastructure constructed.Delegation members Mr Sehajpreet Singh Mangat and Dr Vanita specially thanked the District Administration Nankana Sahib for their arrangements during their visit.The Indian delegation comprised of Dr Vanita from New Delhi, Darshan Buttar from Nabha, Dr Ratan Singh Dhillon from Ambala, Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Manjinder Singh Dhanoa, Sehajpreet Singh Mangat and Dr Jaswinder Kaur Mangat from Ludhiana, Advocate Amarpal Singh Randhawa from Amritsar, Dr SS Sangha, Kamal Gill, Principal Dashmesh College Badal (Sri Muktsar Sahib), Dr Shinderpal Singh from Chandigarh, Dr Gurdeep Kaur from Delhi, Dr Gurdeep Kaur from Punjabi Department of Delhi University, Dr Khalid from Kirori May College Delhi, Urdu writer Nand Kishore Vikram from Delhi, former IAS Ashok Gupta, besides several others.During the three-day conference, a total of 13 resolutions were passed.
