Punjab Cabinet Ministers Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Sadhu Singh Dharmsot and  Sunder Sham Arora today led people from all walks of life to pay floral tributes to social reformer and former Punjab Minister Master Gurbanta Singh on his 39th death anniversary.Paying homage to the former Punjab Minister, Cooperation Minister Mr. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa recalled that in post independence era stalwarts like Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, S. Partap Singh Kairon, Master Gurbanta Singh and others started the process of reconstruction of the nation. He said that it was the visionary approach of these leaders that today’s generation was witnessing unprecedented development in every sphere of life. Mr. Randhawa said that the real tribute to these great sons of the soil was the tread the path shown by them and strengthen the ethos of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood. Describing Master Gurbanta Singh as a votary of the downtrodden and oppressed sections of the society, the Minister said that the marvelous contribution in the welfare of the underprivileged sections of society would be ever remembered by one and all. He said that Master ji was a leader of tremendous stature, who was very popular amongst the general masses, due to his simplicity and hard work. Mr. Randhawa said that walking on his footsteps, his sons late Chaudhary Jagjit Singh and Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh besides his grandsons MLA Chaudhary Surinder Singh and General Punjab Congress Mr. Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary were serving the masses.In his address, Forest Minister Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharmsot said that Master Gurbanta Singh worked for zealously worked for upliftment of needy and underprivileged sections of society. He said that Master ji’s contribution for the welfare of weaker and underprivileged sections of society was unparalleled. The Minister said that the path shown by Master ji was acting as a beacon for all of us to work for the welfare of the people. 

Addressing the gathering, Industries Minister Mr. Sunder Sham Arora described Master Gurbanta Singh as a leader of humanity. He said that Master ji was a multi facet personality who dedicated his entire life for the cause of the weaker and underprivileged sections of society.  Mr. Arora said that it was matter of great pride and satisfaction that now the third generations of Master Gurbanta Singh, in form of his grandsons were serving the people thereby upholding the legacy of service of masses. Lok Sabha MP from Jalandhar Chaudhary Santokh Singh, while expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, said that the family was indebted to them for attending this function. He said that Master Gurbanta Singh had shown the path to family to serve the needy people and they were imparting this duty zealously. Chaudhary Santokh Singh also recalled the visionary decisions taken by Master Gurbanta Singh for the sake of the country and its people.The MP said that Master Gurbanta Singh was a true patriot, a bold and visionary leader, who always worked for the welfare of every strata of society. Chaudhary Santokh Singh also recalled the hardships faced by Master Gurbanta Singh during his early days of struggle for weaker sections of society. He said that it was a matter of pride for them that under the visionary leadership of Pandit Nehru and S. Kairon, Master Gurbanta Singh scripted the destiny of state by taking historic decisions like construction of Bhakra Dam, setting up of Punjab Agriculture University, providing robust irrigation system, imparting quality education to weaker sections of society and others.Earlier, MLA Chaudhary Surinder Singh and General Secretary Punjab Congress Mr. Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary welcomed all the dignitaries.On the occasion, MLAs Mr. Rajinder Beri, Mr. Bawa Henry and Mr. Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia, former MP Mr. Mohinder Singh Kay Pee, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal, former MLA Mr. Jagbir Singh Brar, Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr. Jitendra Jorwal and Mr. Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Paramvir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. KS Heer and others were also present.
