The NCC cadets of Punjab and Chandigarh and NSS volunteers, who participated in the national-level Republic Day camp and Parade 2019 in New Delhi, were honoured by the Governor of Punjab Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore at an impressive function held at the Punjab Raj Bhawan here today.Congratulating the young cadets on their spectacular performance at the Republic Day Parade, Sh. Badnore said that they have made the Nation proud by their splendid performance. He also said that the NCC has made an immense contribution towards processes of nation-building and social harmony. It has transformed the lives of millions of youth by sharpening their leadership skills and inculcating in them the core values of patriotism, discipline and selfless service, said Mr. Badnore.Interacting with the vibrant young brigade, the Governor brought forth the facts related to our country's freedom in 1947. He highlighted the importance of three important days i.e. Independence Day followed by the Constitution Day and finally the Republic Day when after attaining Independence,  the Parliamentary form of governance came into being in India. The Governor also appreciated the Punjab Government's move to enhance NCC and NSS activities in the colleges aiming at roping in our youth and channelizing their energies in something constructive for the Nation.

He also said the NCC cadets today had brought back memories of his own days when as a senior cadet of Naval Wing he attended the Senior Cadet Camp held in Goa which was a learning experience for him. He exhorted the NCC cadets and NSS volunteers to utilize the opportunities coming on their way with firm resolve and commitment, and contribute positively towards the growth of the nation. He further expressed contentment over the inclusive role played by the NCC in empowering the youth to take up the challenges of eliminating all forms of social discrimination and exploitation, and work towards national harmony.The Governor also presented awards to the officials of NSS and NCC and the Group Commandants of Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Patiala and Chandigarh. He also interacted with the cadets of Airforce, Naval and Army wings who displayed their models on the occasion.Prominent amongst others who graced the occasion included Major General R.S Mann, YSM, Additional Director General NCC Directorate, Mr. S.K. Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education, Mrs. Madhu Bala, Regional Director NSS, Mr. Gurloveleen Singh DPI Colleges Punjab, Group Commanders, Group Captains, Civil and Defence Officers, officers of the department of Higher Education Punjab besides others.
