Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has today digitally laid the foundation stone of a New Model Degree Collegeto be constructed at Village Fatehgarh Korotana, Sub division Dharamkot, District Moga under Rashtriya Uchchttar Shiksha Abhiyan. This college will be constructed in 60:40 Centre: State ratio at a cost of Rs 12 crores.The Govt of Punjab has allotted 10.5 acres of land free of cost for this College. The new College will fulfil the much needed higher educational requirements of the district.The Hon’ble Prime Minister has today also digitally inaugurated the Entrepreneurship, Employability and Career Hubs at Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar and Punjabi University Patiala.Under Rashtriya Uchchttar Shiksha Abhiyan, Guru Nanak Dev University has been sanctioned 100 crore for enhancing Quality and Excellence. The University’s Centre for Agriculture Research and Innovation will collaborate with Cornell University, USA and the Department of Sports Science and Medicine will partner with South Florida University, USA for establishment of these hubs.Similarly Punjabi University Patiala has been sanctioned Rs. 50 Crore for Research, Innovation and Quality Improvement. The University proposes to undertake research in Phytopharmaceuticals, Functional Foods, Nanotechnology, Bioresource utilization, Agro Waste Management, New Drug Development and Toxicity Testing.The launch functions held at meeting hall deputy Commissioner office, Moga was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Sh. S.K Sandhu, Secretary Higher Education-cum-Project Director RUSA Sh. VK. Meena, DC MOGA Sh. Sandeep Hans, MLA Dharamkot Sukhjit Singh Lohgarh, MLA Baghapurana S. Darshan Singh Brar, Ex minister Dr. Malti Thapur, other political personalities and official of the District, Panchayat members of the adjoining villages and students.
