Students at Government Degree College Uri are suffering immensely as the post of the Principal in the college is lying vacant from last one year. It has severely hit the academics and documental work.A delegation of students from the college met the representatives of J&K Students Movement this week and apprised them about their sufferings. The delegation requested the representatives to take up their issues with the higher authorities.“Students of the college said that college is headless for a year now and the authorities have failed to appoint a principal there thus plunging them to face a lot of hardships,” reads a statement issued by J&KSM.“Prospects of the college reads that there are number courses that are available there but the college is yet to enroll the students for the said courses. If students have to study the physical education subject, they are told to go to Degree College Baramulla which is almost 50 km from Uri and is not affordable by them every day,” it reads.“They also pitched to start the courses like commerce and Physical education in Uri College. Students also claimed that the issues have already been taken up with local administration and representative but all in vain as nobody acted,” it adds.Naveed Bukhtiyar, General Secretary J&K Students Movement said: “It’s very shameful even as the governor led administration is not doing well. I request the authorities to solve the issue as early as possible and don’t make the students of remote areas to more sufferings.” (CNS)
