Occasion was organization of ‘District Youth Parliament (DYP)’ sessions by Community Service Cell at LPU, under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. For this, symbolic reflection of ruling and opposition parties was showcased at LPU Platform. All participants raised their voices vociferously and determinedly.Topics for DYP were: India sets global narratives on Terrorism; on Economic Offenders; on Climate Change; Khelo India: A gateway for budding Sportspersons; and, the Best time for Indian sportspersons to make a mark. Maximum percentage of the speakers preferred to speak against ‘Terrorism’ and suggested solutions. Participating students, supposedly, young parliamentarians said: “Terrorism can’t be good or bad: Terrorism is only Terrorism”; “Guns can down Terrorists; Education can wipe out Terrorism entirely”; “All nations must stand united against Terrorism”; and, many such other.

Being Nodal Officer for both the districts, Dean Division of Student Welfare at LPU Dr Sorabh Lakhanpal convened the mock parliament in an efficient manner as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call for youth led development.  In his famous ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, PM Modi has shared to provide a chance to the youth to put forth their views on various issues concerning the country. The objective of the event is to encourage youth to engage with public issues, understand the common man's point of view, form their opinions and express it in an articulate manner. It is also to inculcate in them a respect and tolerance for the views of others.District Youth Parliament (DYP) is being conducted in 494 districts all across the country and LPU has been listed for two-districts.  Selected three (3) best speakers from each DYP will now participate at the state level and then at national level, on being selected by the Jury appointed.
