The nomenclature of PGT posted in schools would be changed to Lecturers and notification in this regard would be issued soon and posts of Vice Principals would be created in all the Senior Secondary Schools of the State. This was announced by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the 4th regional seminar of Himachal Pradesh Teachers Union (Himachal Pradesh Shikshak Manasangh) at Gondpur Banhera in Una district today.While laying stress on value added education, Chief Minister said that education without value was disastrous both for the society. He said that it becomes the duty of the teachers to inculcate high moral values in the students for a strong and vibrant society. He said that the teachers should educate the students regarding our culture, tradition so that he or she feels proud of their rich culture and history.Jai Ram Thakur said that despite being a small state, Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged as the best State in education amongst the big States of the country the credit for which goes to the teachers besides better policies of the State government. He said our country was once known as Vishava Guru and the tradition of Guru-Shishya was acclaimed by one and the all but it was unfortunate that this tradition was slowly vanishing. He urged the teachers to once again work collectively to regain this lost glory.The Chief Minister said that teachers should also come forward to check increasing tendency of cheating among the students during examinations. He said that the teachers should imbibe the value of morality among the students so that they themselves say no to cheat. He said that the teachers should set an example by their conduct and character.The Chief Minister said that the role of teachers in building a strong and progressive nation was vital. 

Teachers should also come forward to check the ever increasing menace of drug abuse. He said that the teachers should keep an eye on the changing habits and behaviour of their students.He said that the present State government has recently completed one year in office and this one year has been a period full of several major initiatives and many developmental endeavours. He said that that the very first decision of the State government was aimed at the welfare of old people and the government lowered the age limit of getting old age pension without income criteria from 80 years to 70 years. The Jan Manch has also proved a boon to the people of the State for redressal of their grievances at their doorsteps. More than 22,000 grievances have been redressed in ten Jan Manch organised in the State, even the opposition were appreciating this initiative of the State government.He announced to open Atal Adarsh Aavasiya Vidyalaya at Gehra Palata in Gagret area of the district.Jai Ram Thakur also announced that Rs. 20 lakh, Rs. 15 lakh, Rs. 10 lakh, and Rs. 15 lakh for construction of buildings of Senior Secondary Schools at Mubarkarpur, Bedhara, Ghanaian and BO office building respectively. He also announced Rs. 10 lakh for construction of ground at Senior Secondary School Gondpur Banhera. The Chief Minister was presented a cheque of Rs. 31,000 by the office bearers of the Mahasangh on behalf of the Mahasangh towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that teachers play a vital role for making our society educated and enlightened. He said that it was knowledge that makes human the supreme animal on the earth and credit of this goes to our teachers. It was due to this fact that the status of teacher in our scripture has been kept at par with the gods. Thus the responsibility of the teachers becomes all the more major.MLA Rajesh Thakur detailed the various developmental demands of the area and said that the State has witnessed unprecedented development during the last one year. He said that thousands of teachers were promoted as principals by creating the backlog and efforts were being made to ensure adequate teachers in all the educational institutions.Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Mahasangh Joint Secretary Pawan Mishra also expressed his views on the occasion and said that education must be aimed towards development of the nation. Regional President, Himachal Pradesh Shikshak Manasangh Pawan Kumar urged the Chief Minister to provide benefit of 4-9-14 and restoration of old pension scheme for the teachers.Vice President of the Sangh Jagvir Chandel also spoke on the occasion. Media Head of the Sangh Darshan Lal welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kishan Kapoor, Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virender Kanwar, Health Minister Vipin Singh Parmar, State BJP President Satpal Singh Satti, Vice Chairman, HIMUDA Parveen Sharma, Vice Chairman, SIDC Prof. Ram Kumar and MLA Balbir Chaudhary were present on the occasion among others.
