Deputy Mayor meets Governor, discusses issues pertaining to SMC corporators

Deputy Mayor Sheikh Mohammad Imran Saturday met Governor Satya Pal Malik in Jammu and discussed issues pertaining to corporators of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).Imran said Governor has assured him that State administration is taking every step required to ensure resolving of problems pertaining to corporators. Deputy Mayor also proposed steps for further empowerment of the elected representatives, including security, salary, accommodation, laptops, smartphones and other benefits.He also shared with Governor about SMC’s Plan to make Srinagar clean and green besides ensuring round the clock provision of basic civic amenities to the people.He was accompanied by families of nine youth whom NIA has asked to appear in Jammu on 21 Jan, from Rajouri Kadal Srinagar and also discussed their case with the Governor.Imaran said Governor has assured them personally to intervene into the cases of Rajouri Kadal youth including families of  Haris Rashid Langoo, Ashiq Hussain,Wahid Abas Bhat, Ashiq Sohail, Irfan Ahmad Siroo, Aadil Majid Khan, and Abdul Ahad Mir.“The families shared all the issues with the honorable Governor,” he said adding that he (Governor) assured them that he will personally intervene into this matter, he said in a statement to Valley Media Service.Deputy Mayor also urged Governor to intervention in Hurriyat Conference (M) jailed spokesman Shahid-ul-Islam release as his family is suffering from several problems.He appealed Governor that he (Shahid-ul-Islam) to grant him bail on humanitarian basis as his has recently suffered two brain strokes.

Apart from Governor, Imran met IGP Traffic, Deputy Mayor Jammu, Nirmal Kumar and other representatives of Jammu province,Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor SMC, Shiekh Mohammad Imran on Saturday termed the serious concern over LD Hospital incident after a woman forced was forced to deliver on the open road and demanded impartial probe in the incident.Imran expressed deep shock against the negligent approach of LD Hospital administration which denied admission of a poor patient despite of her intense labour pain.He expressed his sympathy with the bereaved family and urged Governor Administration to take serious note of the incident and take strict action against the culprits involved in this shameful incident.“When I visited the hospitals in Srinagar including CD hospital, some people criticized me for the move but I knew that poor people are suffering by these dictators,” he said adding that where are now the defenders of doctors who treat patients as cattle’s.“Where are contractors of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) and Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) who are busy in issuing statements. My work is to expose those who are exploited by traditional politics,” Imran questioned.“I will always raise voice against oppression and dictatorship; he said adding that these incidents should not repeat again in the valley,” he said. Imran said State Administration especially Health Department will take strong notice of this shameful incident.(VMS)
