Anumit Hira Sodhi, an emerging name in Punjab politics and an active member of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, in a recent interview expressed his desire to contest for the Lok Sabha ticket from the Ferozepur constituency, which is his home district.Hira Sodhi, who started off as a Youth Congress Vice President now is a zestful member of PPCC for over 20 years. Being the most prospective and favored candidate from Ferozepur, Sodhi said, " The seat, Ferozepur which the Congress party has failed to win since 1989 now seems a sure victory because of the internal conflicts which the opposition parties, Shiromani Akali Dal and Aam Aadmi are battling.While talking about the win of Congress in Ferozepur he added, "It was Balram Jakhar, the former Lok Sabha speaker who consecutively won in 1980 and 1985. Now after a long gap of 30 years, we are confident of Congress gaining its seat again in the Ferozepur segment.Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Minister of Sports and Youth affairs and father of Anumit Hira Sodhi calling Anumit and himself both as the "winnable candidates" from Ferozepur constituency said, he will be asking the high commands to rethink its 'one-family, one-ticket' rule as the deserving candidates will be simply left out because of their kinship to the ministers, MPs or MLAs.
