Recognizing the immense potential of e-Governance to bring in efficiency and effectiveness in citizen-centric services, Information Technology Department in collaboration with National Institute of Smart Governance (NISG) today concluded Second 3-Day training program on ‘Government Process Re-engineering’.The training program was attended by more than 30 senior officers of various departments of the State Government, including, Commissioner Secretary Revenue Shahid Anayatullah, Director Archives, Archeology and Museums, Munir-ul-Islam, Director Employment Yash Paul Suman, Director Floriculture, Jammu Babila Rakwal and Sub District Magistrate Khaltsi Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishy.During the training  programme,General Manager, NISG Satyajit Rao Vaguala NISG and facilitator Jagdish Chander Kapoor sensitized  the participants about various topics like Understanding Government Process & Service Quality, Process of Re-engineering, Collection of Data for Process Mapping, Definition of the Vision 7 Understanding Service Prioritization and Legal & Policy Framework for GPR.At the concluding session of the training program, Vaguala also presented a comprehensive presentation on Governance Development, Community Capacity Building and Socioeconomic Challenges.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Information Technology, Saugat Biswas congratulated the participants for their enthusiastic approach to learn and participate in different events of the training program.He added that Jammu & Kashmir e-Governance Agency(JaKeGA), (Information Technology Department) in collaboration with the National Institute for Smart Government, is designed to equip the higher level administrators with the understanding of process re-engineering and its importance.The Secretary said that the aim of the GPR program is to address ‘problems’ or ‘needs’ of the organization with an objective to improve the efficiency of service delivery while reducing cost and time.Biswas said that the training was also aimed at sensitizing officers with various tools of process re-engineering. The knowledge of GPR enables government personnel to improve government functioning by the following means;  Improved citizen focus and experience, Minimized process complexity, cost and Service Delivery Tim Increased transparency, Reduce administrative burden and Adoption of best practices.He added that these trainings have been started in a big way this year after a gap of six years and have already covered administrators and officers of various levels from different departments of the State Government, districts including Leh and Kargil& State Taxes department.Biswas informed that these training programs will cover around 250 officers positioned at strategic levels in the Government including officers of the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Directors and officers from various other administrative departments.Speaking on the occasion, Director Archives, Archeology and Museums, Munir-ul-Islam, thanked the IT Department  for organizing the program  to express ideas and experiences and hoped that the training will help officers long way to serve in their respective departments.He expressed that the training program motivated the participants  to improve the quality and approach of  work and hoped that they will try to implement these learnings on ground.The Secretary, Additional Secretary Information Technology also distributed the certificates to the participants in the closing ceremony.
