State BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti reappointed as the president of the Himachal BJP for the second time in a row.Under the leadership of Satti, BJP will contest the 2014 parliamentary election in the State and this would be a litmus test for the young chief of the party. Satti, a three-time MLA from Una district, had taken the reins of the party from former president KhimiThe 49-year-old Satti has been associated with the party since long and was in student politics with ABVP and then in the BJYM, the youth fronts of the party. His appointment for second term as State BJP chief was confirmed when party’s national vice-president Shanta Kumar recently stated that he would favour Satti as party president in the State.On Saturday, BJP will hold its State executive committee meeting at Shimla and issues pertaining to the party’s stand in the Budget Session of the Assembly will be discussed along with recent steps taken by the Virbhadra Singh Government reversing several decisions of the previous Government.BJP has recently completed its organisational election and several energetic and loyal party workers were awarded with crucial positions at block and district levels. “I believe in collective leadership of the party and I would try to take the party forward by successfully contesting the upcoming parliamentary polls,” said Satti, thanking the central leadership, especially Shanta Kumar for reposing faith in him.“We lost Assembly elections but that is not the end and I hope that the new team in the State is energetic and party will successfully contest the parliamentary elections,” he added. He said the party will now go into attacking mode.
