The Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Leh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal convened a meeting to review the preparations and arrangements for Losar festival.CEC directed the concerned departments to do the proper arrangement in terms of essential commodities and other important services for the festival. He directed PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the celebration, especially on the important days like Galdan Namchot, Namgang, Tsespa chik and Tsespa soom. Villages that are not connected with NHPC should be provided with electricity connectivity through DG sets and other sources, said the CEC. He also directed for illumination of prominent buildings like Leh Palace, Leh gate, and Council Secretariat on Losar.
Jamyang also gave directions for the arrangement of safe drinking water at key places in Leh and told FCS&CA department for timely supply of ration, kerosene oil, and sugar and other essential commodities to the public during the Losar. He urged the Cooperative Department to ensure well availability of vegetables, eggs and other essential commodities for the general people during Losar without any escalation in prices. He also gave directions to the Forest Department for making the availability of juniper in the market as per past practice. The Municipal Committee was directed to ensure cleanliness of the premises of Chowkhang Vihara for the Losar celebration.Dy. Chairman LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal, EC Health Tsering Sangdup, EC Minority Affairs Mumtaz Hussain, EC Agriculture Phunchok Stanzin, Additional District Development Commissioner Leh Moses Kunzang, LBA V-President Rinchen Namgyal, General Secretary Sonam Dawa, LBA Youth President Konchok Ishey Stak also gave important inputs for better arrangements for Losar festival. The HODs from PDD, Cooperative, FCS & CA, Municipal Committee, PHE, Cultural Academy and the President of Merchant Association Phuntsog Wangyal were also present in the meeting.
