Deputy Commissioner (DC) and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal inaugurated one-day diabetes awareness cum screening camp at New Bus Stand Kargil here today.Chief Medical Officer Kargil Dr Ibrahim Khan, Chief Planning Officer Kargil Tashi Tundup, Deputy CMO Kargil Dr Muhammad Afzal Lone, AD Planning Kargil Muhammad Hadi, besides doctors and paramedical staff were present on the occasion. During the camp, which was organized under NCD scheme in connection with the World Diabetes Day, free diabetes awareness and screening facilities were provided to needy patients and the general public.Speaking on the occasion, the DC underlined the importance of such camps and expressed hope that it will prove instrumental in diagnosing people with diabetes so that they can get timely treatment.The DC urged the doctors to make people aware about eating healthy foods, doing exercise, getting their checkup done at required intervals, besides avoiding smoking and alcohol so that can control diabetes and live a healthy life.Meanwhile, around 500 people were screened by late afternoon today and the patients screened with diabetes were instructed to consult Physical Specialists at District Hospital Kargil.
