Tangmarg (Baramulla) , 14 Nov 2018

Revenue Officers from Gulmarg who are on strike from past three days are resorting to pressure tactics to revoke a murder case against Tehsildar Kwarhama, Naib Tehsildar Goigam and Patwari Halqa Waripora of Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The Patwaris from Gulmarg in a communiqué to Sub Divisional Magistrate Gulmarg have alleged that the registration of an FIR against Revenue Officers will not only set a bad precedence but it will also prevent them from performing their official duties.Pertinently, an FIR vide number 118/2018 under section 302 RPC stands registered against Tehsildar Kwarhama, Naib Tehsildar Goigam and Patwari Halqa Waripora of Tangmarg area at Police Station Kunzar.Nisar Ahmed, the complainant in his complaint has alleged that under the garb of removing illegal encroachment the Revenue officials illegally detained and thrashed his father Wali Muhammad and wrought havoc near his house, resulting in the brain hemorrhage of his mother Sara Banoo who was shifted to hospital where she breathed her last.“Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and Patwari arrived at our house on the behest of our neighbor and started dismantling the fencing. They beat up the inmates and showered invectives on family members.

The Tehsildar illegally detained my father and maternal uncle and thrashed them. My mother couldn’t bear this humiliation and suffered stroke and died after couple of hours after the incident,” the complainant has alleged.Police took cognizance of the matter after complainant approached them and registered an FIR vide number 118/2018 under section 302 RPC.A police official reiterated that it was a cognizable offence and the matter is under investigation. The complainant alleged that Revenue officials are not only pressurizing police but him as well to get the FIR revoked. “I want justice. They killed my mother and I simply want to see them behind the bar,” Nisar Ahmed told CNS.Patwar Association Gulmarg meanwhile observed a three day token strike that concluded on Wednesday (Nov 14). They have threatened to go for an indefinite strike if FIR is not taken back against the three Revenue Officials.   “It will be a murder of justice if FIR is quashed against the accused. Let police investigate the matter. Nobody is above law and one should not resort to pressure tactics,” said a member from the victim family.
