District Development Commissioner Shopian, Dr OwaisAhmed, Friday convened a meeting to review the arrangements being made for the forthcoming Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) in the district Shopian.The meeting was attended by the ADDC Shopian, Mr Mohammad Saleem,district heads of all the departments, Fire and Emergency Services and Police officials and representatives of Assar e sharief of Pinjura and Arhama .The DC while recalling the importance of the Eid-e-Milad impressed upon all the concerned departments to ensure all their respective tasks are covered with the highest degrees of responsibilities.He directed the PDD to ensure power supply as per schedule in the district during the revered days and uninterrupted power supply at Assar ShariefPinjura , Syed Bahuudin Ganj Bakhsh SimnaniArhama and other religious places in the district where the largest congregation is expected to take place on 20th and 21st November. He directed the department to install Gen-set at the shrine to ensure uninterrupted power supply and Halogen lights for street lighting besides having a standby arrangement of additional Generators.
The PHE was also directed to ensure regular water supply to the major congregation sites in the district and also make arrangements of water tankers at the congregation sites as a backup at these places particularly at Arhama and Pinjura during the entire period of Eid-e-Milad.The Municipal Committee Shopian was also directed to ensure cleanliness and proper sanitation in and around mosques and shrines.On the occasion, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs informed that adequate stock of ration is available in the district.The Assistant Regional Transport Office was directed to ensure there is adequate availability of transport facilities at Arhama and Pinjura to ferry the devotees till late at night. The Police department and ARTO were asked to prepare well thought-out traffic management and parking plans in order to ensure hassle-free to-and-fro movement of vehicles from Pulwama to Shopian main road.The Health Department was asked to station a critical care ambulance at Arhama and pinjura besides other basic medical facilities.DDC said a control room will be set up at the shrine places and directed all the concerned departments to depute an official to the control room who can coordinate with respective departments wherever required for the convenience of the general public.
