Majlis-e-Shabaan Khuihome on Saturday organised a day-long literary event at Mehboob-ul-Alam College of Education Bandipora. The event was sponsored by the District Administration Bandipora.Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary who was chief guest on the occasion, also released a book titled Asrar-i-Akash authored by Akash Ali Mohammad Mir.Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said Bandipora has a rich cultural and literary history and hence known for Alim (Knowledge), Adab (Literature) and Aab (Water). He assured every possible assistance to the literary organizations of the district to promote literary environment in the district and said that the literary activities will help in developing a reading culture among the younger generation.Dr Choudhary said efforts are made to develop Bandipora on modern lines and priority is being given to education sector. He assured every possible support from the district administration to ensure proper counselling to the educated youth so that they can carry forward the rich history of their forefathers.He said more libraries are being established in various schools of the district and urged the people to imbibe reading culture among their wards.Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zulfikar Azad was Guest of Honour.On the occasion various scholars presented their research papers, poems, essays on different themes and book reviews. A poetic session was also organised on the occasion.Deputy Chief Education Officer Bandipora, Mohammad Rafiq Parray, Prof. Ismail Aashna and Mohammad Munnawar Parwana besides other writers, poets, scholars, and students were present on the occasion.
