Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rohit Khajuria flagged off ‘Ayushman Bharat Rath’ under Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) here today.Speaking on the occasion, the DC informed that the Ayushman Bharat, the biggest government-sponsored healthcare scheme is an initiative which was termed by the Prime Minister as game changer to serve the poor is all set to roll out in J&K on December 01.He said that through the Ayushman Bharat Rath, the magnitude of the scheme can be gauged by the maximum populace. More than 1,300 ailments are covered under it, including heart diseases, kidney and liver disorders and diabetes, the DC said and further informed that the ones living in the lowest strata of the society will be benefitted from this scheme.In Kathua district, 5789 urban households and 29792 rural households have been identified under this scheme. District Hospital and CHC Hospitals in the district have been empanelled under the scheme and in every DH and CHC, there will be an Arogya Mitra and medical coordinator who will act as facilitators in empanelled hospitals to ensure smooth functioning of the world’s largest public health insurance cover for the poor and vulnerable, the DC maintained. He further informed that a health card would be provided to the beneficiaries for availing of the benefits.CMO, Dr Ashok Choudhary informed that a toll-free number will be made available to the people for finding out more about the scheme. He added that the scheme has been implemented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under which health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakhs will be given to the poor and vulnerable families.ADC Kathua, Ghanshyam Singh, Dy CMO, Dr Chitra, Tehsildar, DIO and other district officers were present on this occasion.
