Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, today visited Pathran, Kundiyan and Mandian areas of frontier Keran block to take a first-hand appraisal of amenities and issues being faced locals there.He also took stock of various ongoing developmental works being executed by different agencies including PDD, PHE, I&FC, R&B, Health and others.The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by SE PDD, Executive Engineers of PDD and R&B, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer and various other field functionaries.DC took stock of arrangements put in place regarding elections to Panchayats in the area and instructed concerned ROs and AROs to put in dedicated efforts towards ensuring free and fair elections. He also urged people of the area to exercise their democratic right for progress and prosperity of their villages.At Mandian village, DC interacted with the locals who demanded the construction of an approaching road and a bridge for better connectivity. He directed  Exen R&B to initiate efforts for redressal of the projected issues at an earliest and assured people that their demands shall be resolved within the stipulated time frame.He also visited the helipad in Mandian which is nearing its completion and directed concerned agencies to construct a protection bund and complete the finishing work so that the people of the area can avail benefits of the helipad in the winter season.DC also visited Friends Bridge, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.58 crore and instructed concerned to make it functional by April end and also complete the road that connects Keran with the village Bore. 

Later, DC inspected the under construction Hospital building at Keran and directed concerned authorities to ensure its completion by 15th of December. He also directed CMO to ensure availability of X-ray machine in the hospital. He also suggested BMO to deploy RSBK teams to schools for health checkups of children and organize awareness camp so that people are better informed about healthy lifestyle choices. He directed Tehsildar Keran to monitor the implementation of directions.He also visited Receiving Station, which is under construction, at Mandian for which 33 KV line is being connected from Villagam Grid through Kralpora. The transformer required has already been installed in the receiving station.Further, the DC visited many schools in the area. He directed the concerned Block Development Officer to ensure construction of toilets in the schools. He also directed CEO to ensure proper and sufficient deployment of staff.Earlier, DC also interacted with the people of the area during which they raised many demands related to Mando Pati road, availability of medicines, link roads and other issues.He gave on spot directions to the concerned authorities for redressal of demands and to gear up men and machinery towards completion of all works in progress in the area.He appealed people to actively engage themselves with Central and State sponsored schemes like MGNREGA for their own uplift. He suggested coordination and cooperation of government agencies and active involvement of the local people for development, progress and prosperity of Keran.
