National Conference Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah addressed a massive public meeting at Baharbad, Sumbal Sonawari and later addressed an impressive youth convention of Youth National Conference organized by the party's youth wing at Raj Bagh in Srinagar today.According to a statement issued while speaking on these occasions Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that PDP's sole political purpose was to dilute the voice of our people and barter their interests for the temptations of personal power. The same Mufti Sayeed who waxes eloquent about “healing the wounds” of the people inflicted the most grievous wounds on the minds and hearts of the people of Kashmir through his infamous phase of barbaric repression in partnership with Jagmohan. It was Mufti Sayeed who deputed Jagmohan to J&K as Governor during his tenure as the Home Minister of India. Mufti Sayeed did this despite apprehensions officially raised on this choice by none other than the then President of India.
Dr. Farooq asked the young National Conference brigade to work with selflessness and dedication to serve the people. The ultimate goal of politics is public service and National Conference has always believed in serving the interests of the people and not ponder to power at the cost of our principles. PDP's open tactical alliance with Modi-led BJP is a stab in the back for the people of this State and they will never forgive Mufti Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti for becoming the political agents of Modi in Kashmir.Speaking on the issue of Article 370, Dr. Farooq said Article 370 was the constitutional bridge between J&K and the Indian Union and an abrogation of Article 370 would lead to the revocation of the accession. No power on earth can revoke Article 370 until the last National Conference worker is alive.
We will not allow Mufti to re-invent the Mukherjee Doctrine to please Narendra Modi. We have safeguarded Article 370 for decades and will continue to protect it with our lives in the future as well.
