50 playgrounds would be setup in Mansa to improve the health of people under Mission Tandarust Punjab and to attract the youth towards sports activities.This was stated today by Mansa Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait while presiding over a meeting of departments carrying out activities under Mission Tandarust Punjab.Speaking during the occasion She directed the Panchayat Department to locate 30 places in every block to setup 150 parks in the district.“Try to find these places close to the primary, middle and senior secondary schools where playgrounds are to be setup soon under MGNREGA to attract youngsters towards a healthier way of living”, she said.To combat the ever rising menace of stray animals on roads, she directed the dairy department officials to keep a random check over the number of animals in cowsheds during the start and end of every month so that people leaving their animals on roads after milking can be taken to task.In view of festive season, DC Apneet Riyait asked the dairy, health and food safety departments to jointly conduct checking of adulteration in milk by conducting raids.Officials of the food safety department informed that they took samples of 28 milk sellers recently and the milk they were selling was found to be below standards.The DC asked the health and food safety officials to accelerate the inspection of milk samples in view of festivities in market places.“We have zero tolerance for the adulteration in edibles especially the sweets during this festive season,” she said.
Expressing concern over the reports of rising number of dengue cases in Mansa she strictly directed the officials to intensify the inspection of dengue larva in all the residential and commercial places of the district. Fine be and impose upon all those who keep unclean surroundings which prove instrumental in the breeding of dengue mosquitoes.She also directed the Water Supply and Sanitation Department to clean the water tanks in all water works and restart the RO plants which are lying defunct.Forest department officials were directed to achieve the target of planting 550 saplings in each village of the district. The forest officials said that they have planted these saplings in 5 villages of the district so far and efforts are on to cover each village at the earliest.To reduce the cases of stubble burning in the agricultural fields, the DC asked the pollution control board officials to ensure the presence of nodal officers-appointed by Punjab Government-in the villages.She asked them to constantly check the shellers in district and ensure the proper and environmental friendly disposal of medical waste in all hospitals. Appealing Mansa residents not to use the plastic bags, the DC said that a special drive would be launched in the month of November against the use of plastic.To keep the school children, especially the youngsters, in good health, she directed the education department officials to constantly sensitise the children in schools during morning prayers and also keep them informed about benefits of cleanliness.Similarly, she directed the officials of the horticulture department to spread awareness about the natural ways of ripening of fruits so that the presence of dangerous chemicals in edibles can be reduced.ADC (d) Gurmeet Sidhu speaking during the meeting said that all the department officials should work hard to achieve the targets set by government for a better and healthier environment.He asked all the officials to submit their daily activities carried out under Tandarust Punjab to the district nodal Officers ADC (d) and Deputy Economics Statistics and Analytical Officer.Among others who were also present during the occasion included SDM Budhlada Aditya Dhachalwal, Deputy ESA Bahadur Singh Sandhu, DDPO Dinesh Vashisht and SDO pollution control board Ravi Pal.
