Derive maximum benefit of free testing for quality milk: Deputy Director Dairy

127 out of 302 milk samples taken from 1st April to till date found below standard

Appealing people to derive maximum benefit from the free milk testing facility provided by the Punjab government to get quality milk for their home use, the Deputy Director Dairy of Punjab Dairy Development Department Mr. Jarnail Singh today said that the department has tested 302 samples of milk in district Mansa from 1st April to October 16, 2018, out of which 127 samples were found below the standards.He informed that in order to check the quality of milk taken by the residents, the department has conducted 11 Milk Consumer Awareness Camps in cities and towns since April 1, in which 278 samples have been tested and 159 samples were found healthy for human consumption whereas in 119 samples water mixing was found. He said that under Tandarust Punjab Mission, 24 samples of milk brought by the consumers in the district dairy development office were tested, of which 8 samples were adulterated. 

He said that only water was found mixed in samples, no samples was found with any harmful chemical.Deputy Director informed that department teams have sensitized farmers about the schemes, activities and facilities of the Punjab Government by holding 4 Milk Producer Awareness Camps in the rural areas of the district at different times. Besides this, farmers were motivated to adopt subsidiary occupation of the agriculture such as dairy farming, fisheries, piggery and goatery. He said that about 450 farmers have taken part in these camps.Appealing farmers to adopt dairy farming profession and supply quality milk to further strengthen the impact of Tandarust Punjab Mission, he asked residents of the district to take the maximum benefit of the free milk testing facility of the government so that quality milk could be used at home.
