Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur  while presiding over the fifth Jan Manch at Panjain in Seraj assembly constituency of Mandi district today said that this programme was aimed at redressal of public grievances on the spot and nearer to their homes. The state government started this programme to reach out directly to the masses. He said that he had always felt that common people face lot of difficulty in getting various grievances redressed in government offices, thus an idea of this programme was conceived by the State Government. He said that the programme had gained popularity in the State as in the four Jan Manch held before, over ten thousand grievances and issues related to common man were redressed. This had also ensured that people did not have to visit government offices to redress their grievances. He said that different camps organised during the Jan Manch were providing all the required services to the people on the spot, thereby saving them from a lot of inconvenience.The Chief Minister said that the programme was different from the earlier similar programme started in the State as this was result oriented. The State Government was ensuring that all the grievances raised in the Jan Manch were redressed within the stipulated time frame. He directed the officers to give added attention for speedy disposal of the complaints and other issues raised by people during Jan Manch.

Jai Ram Thakur said that Mukhya Mantri Grihini Suvidha Yojna had been launched in the State for providing free gas connections to the women for providing smoke free cooking facility and within a year all the households of the State would have smoke-free kitchens. He said that heavy rains during this monsoon resulted in heavy damage to the roads and the propriety. He directed the officers to ensure speedy repair and maintenance of damaged roads to facilitate the commuters.He directed the officers to immediately provide all possible help to Patti Devi, a 26 years widow and mother of three children and resident of Mani Panchayat of Seraj area of Mandi district who had approached Jan Manch for redressal of her grievances.People from eleven Gram Panchayats viz. Balichowki, Khani, Devdhar, Thachi, Somgad, Panjain, Bhanwar, Kalu, Khalwahan, Mani and Murad participated in the Jan Manch. Besides, Allopathic and Ayurvedic medical camps and blood donation camps were also organised in which a large number of people turned out for medical check-up.The Chief Minister distributed free LPG connections to women beneficiaries under Grihini Suvidha Yojna. Various types of certificates were also issued besides registering the youth clubs and providing HP domicile certificate during this programme.As many as 993 demands and grievances were received during the Jan Manch. Out of these most were redressed on the spot and remaining have been sent to the concerned departments for speedy disposal within ten days. The Revenue department prepared certificates and pension cases were also cleared on this occasion. Soil health cards were also issued to several farmers. 

The Health and Ayurveda departments organised health camps to facilitate the people for primary health check up. As many as 276 OPD patients were attended, 151 handicapped registered, 70 universal health cards issued and nine lab tests done during the Jan Manch.Services related to issue of income/cast certificates, attestation of certificates, copy of family registers, widow/old age/physically challenged pension, health tests, motor licence, mutation, Aadhar cards, Horticulture cards, ration cards were provided in this Jan Manch.Jai Ram Thakur launched Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao in Mandi district for empowerment of the girl child on the occasion. This programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 100 districts of the country on 22 January, 2015. In first phase Una district was covered and in second phase Hamirpur and Kangra districts were included in the programme. Now Solan, Sirmour, Shimla, Bilaspur and Mandi districts will be covered in the Scheme. He also honoured several girls excelling in various board examinations and facilitated a girl with Golden Girl Certificate and a cash prize of Rs 20,000.He provided IEC kits to Aanganwari workers on the occasion. Parents of five girl child were also provided assistance of Rs 10,000 each for FDR under Beti Hai Anmol Yojana.He also awarded the Senior Secondary Schools for achieving the target of 100 per cent transition of girl students for class ten to eleven standard with a grant of Rs 20,000 each and Certificate.Deputy Commissioner Mandi Rugved Thakur detailed various facilities being provided under this scheme.Wife of the Chief Minister Dr. Sadhna Thakur, MLAs Jawahar Thakur and Inder Singh Gandhi, Chairman MILKFED Nihal Sharma, Waqf Board Rajabali were also present on the occasion.
