Chandigarh , 01 Oct 2018

The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, V.P. Singh Badnore called upon the eminent senior citizens of Chandigarh to strike a perfect socio-emotional cord with the city youth. He urged them to devote some of their time to interact with the school children in order to talk about morality, ethics and other social values with themas their experience and maturity can guide the youth in a better way.Addressing the senior citizens on the occasion of the International Day for Older Persons observed at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh, the Governor said India is a country which has the oldest civilization and from time immemorial our forefathers taught us about the values of being respectful towards parents and elders. These are the social values enshrined in our civilization and also engraved in our minds.Unfortunately over the years we have noticed a deviation in this regard which we have to set right it in the interest of our socio-emotional health. The same old values need to be inculcated in our children which are lost somewhere. We Indians have the collective responsibility to establish and sustain an environment of safety and security for all the vulnerable sections of our society, including our senior citizens.
