The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Coordination Committee (JKCSCC) on Wednesday called for boycott of the upcoming municipal and local body elections and urged the government employees to abstain from work on the polling days.Reports reaching news gathering agency Global News Service said that JKCSCC leaders including Muzaffar Shah, Advocate Mir Javed, Jagmohan Singh Raina addressed a news conference here in Srinagar and urged people of the state to boycott the upcoming municipal and local body polls to defeat the nefarious designs of RSS and BJP aimed to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.ANC chief Muzaffar Shah said that Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a crucial phase as deliberate attempts are being made to change the demography of the state by settling non-locals in the state. He said BJP and RSS were using every method to seek revocation of Article -35A and Article 370.“So, it is the responsibility of every regional party and individual, irrespective of region and religion, to boycott the municipal and local body polls.

And also, people must snap social relations with those who are promoting agenda of RSS by participating in polls,” Shah said.In changed political scenario, Shah said it was imperative for regional parties to shun their differences and forge unity to defeat the attacks on special status,“Formation of an interim government by regional parties is a viable proposal to safeguard the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in a legal manner,” Shah said.“Unity and boycott are the two weapons we have to repulse the assault being carried on our prestige, dignity and identity. The fallout of the attacks on special status will have disastrous consequences for our future generations,” he added.Other JKCSCC leaders in the presser urged those people, who have filled the nomination forms, to pull out keeping in view the popular sentiment and anger among the people.“The government employees should abstain from polling and side with the people of Kashmir instead of RSS and BJP,” they added. The leaders said that BJP led government was luring people by offering Rs 4,000 crore packages while ignoring the genuine demands of the flood-hit victims and the protesting government employees.“Kashmiris won’t sell their loyalty for money. You can push money for polls but you can’t buy votes,” the JKCSCC leaders said while insisting two major regional parties National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party to make an interim government to foil the assault on state’s special status.
