A Swachh Bharat Cycle Rally organized under “Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign” was flagged off by the Director Agriculture, Jammu H. K. Razdan at Krishi Bhawan today. The aim was to create awareness about importance of cleanliness and pollution free environment during the “Swachhta Pakhwada”.The programme was also attended by Joint Director of Agriculture, State Land Use Board Bulesh Zutshi besides senior officers of the department including Deputy Director of Agriculture Trainings, Sunil Koul, Agriculture Chemist, R. K. Bindroo, SMS, Regional Level, S. P. S. Mastana, I/c Dy Director Central, Jagmohan Bhat, Assistant Soil Chemist, Smt. Daisy Bhan, and ASCO (I&P) (Estate Officer) A. H. Salaria.Speaking on the occasion, the Director Agriculture said that the major part of the rural and urban wastes if initially segregated, collected and properly processed can be suitably utilized for making vermi-compost. He advised the field functionaries to aware the farming community regarding maintenance of cleanliness in their fields and surroundings and also to avoid dumping of domestic and farm waste in open that provides breeding ground for harmful pests. He said that the cow dung, crop residues, leaves, stubbles, fruit & vegetable wastes can be converted to organic manures.The Director on the occasion kick started the cleanliness drive in the surroundings and inside the Krishi Bhawan and the Sub-ordinate Offices located at the Agriculture Complex. He said that the Estates Wing of Directorate of Agriculture is doing commendable job in maintaining the cleanliness and general hygiene besides auctioning of the old dead stocks/materials and carrying out the plantation drive at the Agriculture Complex.
