With the efforts of district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and help of Aadhar Biometric details, a missing boy has been reunited with his family. Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar in the presence of CWC and officers handed over the boy to his parents, here today.Giving out the details of the case, Chairperson, District Child Welfare Committee Shalini Sharma informed that the boy was found abandoned in Jammu by Child Help Desk on July 2, 2018. He was placed before district Child Welfare Committee for shelter that placed him in Bal Ashram R S Pura for short term stay till pending inquiry. The boy was found with borderline dull intelligence, mild speaking disorder and was not able to provide any details about him. He speaks Punjabi language which was the only hint to trace his family. To find his parents, CWC contacted many districts in Punjab but was not able to get any information about the boy, she added. The district Child Welfare Committee with the help of District Administration, as a last resort, knocked on the doors of the UIDAI's district unit to identify the child.

The officials found that the child's fingerprints already existed in the Aadhaar database. From the database, the authorities found out that his name is Shinder Singh S/O Darshan Singh who lives in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. The credentials helped the administration establish a communication with his parents. We communicated with his parents and today his mother and uncle came to take him back. The mother thanked the CWC and district administration for their efforts in reuniting her son, Shalini said. The boy was today handed over to his mother and a relative by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar in the presence of the Child Welfare Committee, DSWO Ranbireshwar Singh, DIC Jammu Sanjay Gupta, Superintendent Bal Ashram Vikrant.Speaking on the occasion, DC Jammu appreciated the joint efforts of CWC and Social Welfare Department in taking care and restoration of the missing boy with his family.
