DC launches 'Swachtta hi Sewa" Campaign at Kishtwar

Deputy Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana today launched a fortnight long Swachta Hi Sewa (Cleanliness is Service) campaign here from Government Higher Secondary School (Boys).Speaking at the launch, Rana said that the mission towards cleanliness gained currency and received tremendous impetus throughout the country soon after Prime Minister of India launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 2nd October  2014.A series of activities such as Swachtta Rallies, Shramdaan, Symposiums, Debates, Painting Competitions etc. have been organised  through out the year in order that every citizen can be made aware about the benefits of cleanliness. He expressed his dismay that despite numerous instructions some shopkeepers who lack civic sense openly threw filth and dirt of their shops on roads creating nuisance for the public and commuters. He warned the erring shopkeepers to mend their ways of improper disposal of waste products otherwise strict action shall follow including the imposition of fine and registration of FIR .He further asked the students to contribute and participate in the noble campaign of cleanliness drive for safeguarding the aesthetic beauty of the district.

Deputy Commissioner further stated that the administration has chalked out elaborate plan to reach out all the sections of society with an aim to provide them with sustainable sanitation services. He called the students to remain on fore fronts to offer ShramDaan for general cleanliness of their surroundings including school premises, public places, bus stands, hospital, parks,water bodies etc.Earlier at the start of the session,  2 minutes silence was observed to pray for the departed souls who lost their lives in yesterday's tragic road accident at Thakrie.Earlier, District Panchayat Officer Kishtwar Sunil Kumar Bhutyal welcomed all the dignitaries and participants. He appraised the participants about the main objectives  of Swachta hi Sewa campaign . He deliberated upon various aspects of the programme and  requested  the officers of the line departments besides heads, teaching and non teaching staff of schools, colleges as well as the students to   come forward for making the campaign a grand success. 

He further enjoined upon the students to imbibe the spirit of cleanliness in their routine activities.Further, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Thakur Dewan Chand stated that the health and hygiene are correlated terms and in order to put a check on diseases , maintaining clean and healthy surroundings is a  basic requirement. He urged the students to act as a catalyst of social change by leading the campaign with grit and enthusiasm.Assistant Commissioner Development  Anil Kumar Chandail stressed upon the students to emulate the basic etiquette of cleanliness and asked them to remain dedicated towards the sustainable cleanliness activities .Swatchha pledge was also taken on the occasion. The programme was coordinated by Pardeep Koul Lecturer HSS Boys.Later, Deputy Commissioner flagged off  Swachtta Rally in which hundreds of students participated.Others present were ACR, CMO, DAHO, DSHO, DHO, BDO Kishtwar, Principal HSS Boys, besides officers of other line departments, lecturers, teachers, etc.
