In order to broaden awareness at grass root level various public outreach initiatives for POSHAN Abhiyaan in Mahore are being taken by CDPO Mahore Ms Anjum Ganai. To eradicate Malnutrition a broad based strategy needs to be adopted of which one is awareness programme by mobilizing pubic support and by organising Community Based events and the other is holistic interventions.On the sidelines of Poshan Maah celebrations being celebrated Ms Ganai Organised today organized a Debate/ Quiz Competition in Mountaineer Convent Public School Mahore to give further momentum to the awareness campaign with the aim of reaching every household with the message of nutrition, Health, hygiene and sanitation.The students from various classes had prepared well for the debate and participated actively in the debate competition and highlighted child malnutrition and its ramifications among the participants.
On the occasion Ms Ganai said that it is essential, to spread the awareness among school children about Nutrition, Health, Hygiene and sanitation, as children are the future of our Country. The school based activities like Debates/Quiz programmes is a platform that will not only help children to bring out their Inner talent but also make them aware about Malnutrition. Children are the assets of any Country and a well-nourished population is a healthier and more productive population which contributes to the economic development of the nation.She said that to eradicate the Malnutrition from our state especially Mahore, we need to bring in Behavioral Changes among the people in their daily routine like Hygiene and Sanitation. This can only be achieved by mobilization of Public at ground level and school children can thus act as agents of change for spreading healthy eating and following good hygiene and sanitation practices.The community Based events organized at Anganwadi centre Level are thus serving as a platform for disseminating the information among the public at a micro level, where community awareness camps/workshops in Optimum Breast feeding, adopting healthy eating habits, maintaining proper sanitation and Hygiene, said CDPO on the occasion.She appealed the people to come forward and join the mission undertaken by this office under Poshan Abhiyaan for eradication of Malnutrition from this area by reaching every house hold of Mahore, as without the active public support it is very difficult to make inroads among public living in the remote areas.
