Fairs and festivals are the integral part of our rich cultural repository and they helps in conserving culture and traditions for generations to come. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the closing ceremony of Lambathach Nalwar Mela at Gram Panchayat Sunah Lambathach in Seraj assembly segment of Mandi district today. He announced district level status to this fair.Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government was committed for all round development of every section of the society and every area of the State. He said that during the eight months tenure of the present State Government, welfare of the poor and the downtrodden had remained the top priority. He said that the people of the State were feeling the difference, as now they were able to reap the benefits of development. He said that the Government was working with a sole aim of development. The Government had also succeeded in securing financial assistance of over Rs 6000 crore from the Centre for the State. It was a record itself that any Government of the state succeeded in getting such a huge assistance from the Centre within a short period of six months.Jai Ram Thakur said that Lambathach to Kalhani road would be improved and developed by spending Rs 37.50 crore. Today he laid foundation stones of developmental projects worth crores of rupees in the area. Thanking the people of the area for giving him whole hearted support, he said development had been possible due to their support and cooperation.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government was providing liberal financial assistance to the poor and the needy at the time of distress from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. As of now, about Rs 10 crores had been given to the poor and needy for their medical treatment from this Fund.He announced Rs. 1.50 crore for construction of building of senior secondary school Lambathach and Rs. 25 lakh for construction of five link roads in the area. He announced opening of Health Sub Centre at Chet and Rs. 2 lakh for construction of Mahila Mandal Bhawan of Neri Mahila Mandal. He also announced Rs. 21,000 from his discretionary fund for the students who presented cultural programme on the occasion.Various social, cultural and political organisations honoured the Chief Minister on the occasion.Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone of lift irrigation scheme Keoli in Gram Panchayat Lambathach to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 96.27 lakh. He performed Bhoomi Pujan of Lambathach to Kalhani road to be constructed at a cost Rs. 37.50 crore. He inaugurated Government Senior Secondary School Nihari Sunah (Lambathach) on its upgradation and also inaugurated starting of Science classes in Government Degree College Seraj at Lambathach.The Chief Minister distributed free gas connection to the women beneficiaries under Mukhya Mantri Grihani Suvidha Yojna.MP Ram Swaroop Sharma said that it was a historic occasion for the people of the area that for the first time Chief Minister, that too from their area was present in the Lambathach Nalwar Mela.Pradhan, Local Panchayat and Chairman Mela Committee Chaman Lal welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion.MLA Rakesh Jamwal, Chairman MILKFED Nihal Chand Sharma, Chairman Wakf Board Rajbali were also present on the occasion among others.
