District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who is also District Election Officer Bandipora today convened a meeting of all District officers to review the preparedness for upcoming Urban Local Bodies (Municipal and Panchayat Elections).The Additional District Development Commissioner Mohammad Qasim Wani, SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Deputy District Election Officer Mohammad Rafiq Lone, Joint Director Planning Abdul Majeed, SDM Sonawari Syed Naseer Ahmad were also present in the meeting.The DDC on the occasion said all the officers and employees should treat themselves attached with Election commission and ensure timely response of any information. He said local self-government is essential for redressal of issues at ground level. During the meeting, Nodal Officers were designated and committees were constituted for smooth conduct of elections. The other things which came under discussion include manpower, randomization, geo tagging, communication, media cell, complaint cell, communication plan, expenditure monitoring committee, material management and transport plan besides security arrangements, law and order issues, modal code of conduct, duty of zonal and sectoral magistrates and observers.The Nodal Officers and Incharge of Committees have been directed to start their work forthwith as the issuance of notification is expected within days. The DDC also stressed for proper awareness among the voters. Meanwhile, a training programme for Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) was conducted at the meeting hall, DC office Bandipora in which District Level Master Trainers provided necessary training regarding election to ROs and AROs.
