Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait, Assistant Commissioner (g) Navdeep Kumar today visited Dalelwala and Kishangarh Farvahi villages of International Rowers-Swaran Singh and Sukhmeet Singh-where he congratulated both the families and honoured them with shawls.Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait also cordially invited family members of both the players for a cup of tea at her office and personally congratulated them with sweets.Swaran's parents-Gurmukh Singh and Surjeet Kaur stated that their family was confident that Swaran would clinch gold for the country. Swaran's brother Lakhvinder Singh said that his brother--Arjuna Award recipient-- is serving in the Indian army for the past around 10 years where his talent in rowing was noticed by senior officers and he was encouraged to participate in such sports events.Sukhmeet's parents-Amreek Singh and Kulwinder Kaur said that his son's feat in the rowing has made the entire nation proud.Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait speaking during the occasion announced that grand welcome would be organised during the arrival of both the players in Mansa. "Today's achievement of both the players shows that there is no dearth of talent in the youth of Mansa. The young boys would inspire a lot of other children of the area," she said.
