Education Minister Punjab OP Soni today led people from all walks of life to pay floral tributes to former MLA and veteran Congress leader Mr. Joginder Nath, who breathed his last on August 8.Addressing the gathering during the Bhog and Antim Ardas of the former MLA here at Sri Guru Ravidass Bhawan Link Road, the Minister described him as an honest and upright politician, who dedicated his entire life for the well-being of people from the weaker and underprivileged section. Paying homage to the departed soul on behalf of the Punjab government and Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Mr. Soni said that the sad demise of the former MLA has created a void in the political circles, which would be very difficult to fill in near future. Recalling the services rendered by Mr. Joginder Nath for upliftment of the poor, depressed and weaker sections of the society, he said that the former MLA played a pivotal role in raising the issues concerning this stratum of society at local and state level.The Minister said that the outstanding services of Mr. Joginder Nath for the well-being of the poor and weaker sections would be ever remembered by one and all. Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, Mr. Soni prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to them to bear this huge loss.
He said that it was a huge loss for the Congress party as it has lost a committed soldier, who was votary of morality in the politics. Mr. Soni also assured the bereaved family that the Chief Minister, entire Punjab government and the Congress party was fully at their back in this hour of crisis. Paying tributes to Mr. Joginder Nath, who remained MLA from Gardhiwala assembly segment in 1980, the Lok Sabha MP from Jalandhar Chaudhary Santokh Singh recalled his long association with him. He said that the former MLA was dedicated soldier of Congress party who worked with missionary zeal for the welfare of people. Chaudhary Santokh Singh also said that death of Mr. Joginder Nath was a huge personal loss for him. Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Mayor of Municipal Corporation Jalandhar Mr. Jagdish Raj Raja, Senior Deputy Mayor Mrs. Surinder Kaur, President of District Congress Committee Mr. Daljeet Singh Ahluwalia and others.
