The Punjab Government has disbursed a subsidy of Rs. 6.47 cr.to the unemployed youth of the State to help them to set up dairy farms. Disclosing this Balbir Singh Sidhu, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development & Fisheries Minister said that scientific training on setting up of dairy units would also be conducted to such youths from September 10, 2018 onwards at district level.Mr. Sidhu said that the motive of the subsidy is to make the unemployed youth to self reliant. He said that the department has been providing 25 to 33 percent subsidy on the purchase of milch animals, milking machines and to build infrastructure at village level for producing milk and milk products. He said that 2093 unemployed youth have been imparted training in this year. He said that out of trained persons, 784 beneficiaries have been provided the subsidy of Rs. 6.47 cr in year 2018-19.The Animal Husbandry Minister said that the Punjab Government is committed to provide permanent source of income to the unemployed youth of state under the agricultural diversification programme. He said that dairy development is being provided the financial as well as technical assistance to all eligible beneficiaries to set up their own modernise dairy units.
