Jalandhar School Emerges As Harbinger Of Women Empowerment By Promoting Girl Education

By continuously bagging seats in prestigious National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) and Punjab State Talent Search Examinations (PSTSE), Adarsh Nagar Government Senior Secondary School for girls has emerged as a harbinger of the women empowerment by promoting girl education.The students from school has bagged 31 seats in NSSM this year while 30 of its students were selected in PSTSE thereby bringing laurels for the state.The school has since long been considered as a premier government institute that was instrumental in imparting quality education to the girl child from weaker and underprivileged sections of society. Besides promotion of education the school has also played a key role in overall development of the girl child through promotion of extra curricular activities.The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the contribution of school in education of girl child was unparalleled. He said that the prestigious NMMS exam was a national level scholarship competition for the students of government schools. Mr Sharma said that by clearing this exam students would be entitled for monthly scholarships of RS 500 per month till 12th class , if they were studying in government schools.

Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner said that in PSTSE students from class 8th and 10th could appear. He said that students selected for this would be entitled for scholarship worth Rs 200 per month. Complimenting the students and faculty for the feat, Mr Sharma wished them success for their future endeavours.Meanwhile, the Principal of the school Ms. Khushdeep Kaur attributed the success of the students to hard work and dedication of the faculty. She said that school teachers including Mr Deepak Kumar (Maths), Ms Ruby Bala    (Hindi), Ms Neetu (Social Science) and Ms Mandeep Kaur ( Science) have been working dedicatedly to ensure that students were benefitted from it. The Principal further said that a school child Ms Shivali had also brought laurel for school by bagging first position in NMMS exam in year 2016.Lauding the school management for preparing the students for tough competitions ahead, DIstrict Science Supervisor Mr Baljinder Singh said that the school has certainly carved a niche for itself by promoting girl education. He said that due to untiring efforts of Principal and faculty the students were leaving an indelible imprint in education sector by bagging distinctions in coveted exams like NMMS and PSTSE. Mr Baljinder Singh said that from last several years the school was on first three slots in these exams.
