Kishtwar district today became 15th ODF district in the state with 100% Toilet Coverage. A total of 41,558 toilets have been constructed as per Base Line Survey to provide toilet access to all the rural households under Sawachh Bharat Mission(G).DDC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana convened a simple gathering of officers of concerned line departments to declare district as ODF , keeping in view the national mourning on account of demise of former PM Sh Atal Bihari Vajpayee besides loss of 20 precious human lives in road accidents at Kuligad Drabshalla and Noos Dool .He expressed his thanks to all officers/ officials who took part in the noble mission of conferring district with the ODF title. He further added that keeping in view the rough topography and backwardness of the district, the entire ODF process was not an easy job. He said that officers/ officials had to cross several hurdles before providing every single household with toilet access. He appreciated the efforts of ACD Anil Kumar Chandail DPO Sunil Kumar Bhutyal besides other officers and officials of RDD and other departments by whose sternous efforts the task of ODF status was achieved before the stipulated timelines. He asked Officers to ensure the future usage of sanitary toilets and asked them to work with synergy and zeal in order to fulfill the PM's vision of "Clean India".
At the outset DPO Sunil Bhutyal while lauding the joint efforts of officers and functionaries stated that as per official records only 4% achievement under the programme was made till July 2017 which received quantum jump under the able administration and guidance of DDC Angrez Singh Rana wherein 100 % targets stands achieved before one and half month of fixed date of 2nd October 2018 as set by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation GoI. He further said that transportation of toilet construction materials in areas with practically no roads was a daunting task for the Swachh Bharat workers and added that all functionaries have done a commendable job despite hurdles.Speaking on the occasion ACD Anil Kumar Chandail thanked all the officers/officials involved in process of ODF. He said that it was due to multi-pronged approach adopted by DDC Angrez Singh Rana where verification committees were constituted by him that made it possible to achieve the desired task before the prescribed time. He further added that after this milestone achievement he firmly believes that their department has driven home the sanitation message.Those who participated include Chief Agriculture Officer, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, EO Municipal Committee, BDOs, AD plg, Accounts Officer, District Fund Office, Food Safety Officer besides other district and sectoral officers.
