Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Harpal Singh Cheema stressing upon the urgent need  to ensure  serious discussions on the  5 burning issues concerning state including desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Police Firing at Behbal Kallan and Kotkapura, Drugs, unemployment, pollution in rivers and other water resources, Farmers/labourers debt issues and other long  pending issues, one day each should be dedicated for each issue  during the coming Vidhan Sabha Session so that amicable solutions could be drawn after exploring  on the floor  opinion of all parties on these issues. Mr. Cheema in a press release issued here today  also demanded that one more day should also be earmarked especially to discuss important pending issues i.e. river water, state capital and punjabi speaking areas etc. which  were creating controversies time to time. so that  all parties could clear their stand on these pending issues.  

Referring to the  CBI enquiry  on   Bebal Kallan and Kotkapoora  Police firing  after the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, LOP blamed Capt Amrinder Singh like Parkash Singh Badal for further delaying the action  against the guilty politicians and police officers,  whose names were mentioned in the Justice Ranjit Singh Report as reported in media. He also blamed Capt Amrinder Singh for backtracking from almost all the promises made during elections and said the debt ridden farmers and labourers were committing suicides and the debt was increasing day by day. He added that every day news of the death of a number of youth were continuously coming  every day which was a serious issue. On pollution , Mr. Cheema said that water of the rivers in state was being polluted in big way by releasing pollutants in the rivers, which also playing havoc with lives of people , as the ground water of all parts of state became unfit for human consumption.
