While the district police is making all efforts to put drug addicts on path of sobriety, it is also holding awareness seminars at village level and in educational institutes creating awareness against drugs. Following these efforts the families of village Bandi and Lelewala in Talwandi Sabo area have started declaring themselves free from drugs and have even put up boards outside their homes notifying the same.Giving this information the SP Bathinda Mr Gurmeet Singh Sidhu stated that at village Bandi and Lelewala, the villagers have responded to fight against drugs very well. Many have put up boards outside their homes declaring their households drug free. Besides this the police have honored 40 people in Bandi for quitting drugs and another six were honored at village Lelewala for the same.Similarly, the Baba Ajit Singh Yuvak Sevavan Club and residents of village Himmatpura have put up boards in the village declaring that any kind of drugs in village are strongly prohibited.They have gone a step ahead stating that if a person is found dealing in drugs, strict legal action would be taken against him or her.
Also people have been asked to give information about drug peddlers with the members of youth club.Meanwhile, the Nehianwali police held drug awareness seminar at Govt Sr Sec School Mehma Sarja where students were also told about traffic rules and different mobile applications related to policing, On the other hand the mid day meal kitchen at Goct Des Raj School was thoroughly cleaned today. At Hockey Coaching Center Goniana Mandi, the students cleaned their academy premises.Cleanliness drive was conducted at nagar panchayat Mehraj, Maluka, Bhai Rupa and Mandi Kalan. Agriculture department held farmer training camp at village Balahar Vinju and at Jassi Baghwali the standing cotton crop was reviewed. Industry department officials visited Star Transformers and Super Steel Industry Dabwali Road and motivated them to keep their surroundings clean.
